C'est une tche ingrate et difficile de traduire et d'adapter pour le chant dans une autre langue le texte allemand original des uvres lyriques de Richard Wagner; diverses tentatives de traduction ont t dj faites, mais on leur a reproch de ne pas rendre suffisamment la pense de l'auteur, qui donnait autant d'importance la forme du pome qu' celle du texte musical. Nous avons essay de nous rapprocher autant que possible du texte original du pome allemand dans notre nouvelle version franaise de Tristan et Isolde, en nous basant sur la traduction littrale que nous avons publie en 1895.
