Excerpt from A Genealogical Memoir of the Families of Lawrences: With a Direct Male Line From Sir Robert Lawrence of Lancashire, A. D. 1190; Down to John Lawrence, of Watertown, A. D. 1636: With Notices of Other of Same Name in Different States
In a manuscript journal of a journey through Suffolk, by Mr. Lever-land, in 1655, is the following notice of the family: -
"St. James Park, South Elmham A family of the name of Lawrence were of St James Park. There was of that family a very worthy man, who had fled for religion in Queen Mary's day, and was privately a teacher of a congregation of such as so fled om their habitation, when they could at any time get together. In his old age he was preacher at Fressingfleld, and as he was a span of great estate, so was he of great liberality to the poor, and full of good works.
The Lawrences of Suffolk are believed to be extinct in England."
