O patria, degna di trionfai fama,
De' magnanimi madre,
Pi che in tua suora, in te dolor sormonta;
Qual de' figli tuoi, che in onor t'ama,
Sentendo l'opre ladre
Che in te si fanno, con dolore ha onta.
Ahi! quanto in te la iniqua gente pronta
A sempre congregarsi alla tua morte,
Con luci bieche e torte,
Falso per vero al popol tuo mostrando.
Alza il cor de'sommersi; il sangue accendi;
Sui traditori scendi
Nel tuo giudicio; s che in te laudando
Si posi quella grazia che ti sgrida,
Nella quale ogni ben sorge e s'annida.
Tu felice regnavi al tempo bello
Quando le tue rede
Voller che le virt fussin colonne:
Madre di loda e di salute ostello,
Con pura unita fede
Eri beata, e colle sette donne.
Ora ti veggio ignuda di tai gonne:
Vestita di dolor, piena di vizii;
Fuori i leai Fabrizii;
Superba, vile, nimica di pace.
