It is at first sight curious, at second perhaps intelligible enough, that (unless I am entirely deceived) no special collection of the political verse of different periods in England has ever been attempted. Some such verse - The Rolliad, Peter Pindar's best things, those of Moore and Praed - have been very popular in their own time. Once at least, in the case of The Poetry of the Anti-Jacobin, they have reached more than temporary popularity. But no one has, I think, yet attempted an anthology of them.
